Here we Go!

I created a Gate Fold Shutter Card for my sister who's been living alone, in her condo, faithfully staying home except for doctor appointments and trips to the grocery store and wearing a mask. She's getting her second vaccine tomorrow and so excited that she will once again be able to attend church and worship in person. She only has TV, no internet, so really very isolated! She's a Champion!!

Gate Fold Card Front

Open to see the shutter reveal a sticker mask that says,
 "I AM SMILING"
Card inside

I saw the shutter card some time ago and it popped up

again as I was recently visiting Pinterest and found great instructions on Lisa's Stamp Studio.z

Here's what I was able to create using the "In This Together" paper, stickers and stamps. I used the lined paper on the outside and the mask paper on the inside with a touch of a Zip-Strip (an extra matching strip of paper for a layout or card, with a list of the coordinating card-stock colors on the reverse side.) I stamped and fussy cut, "We Got This", "Social Distance Champion" and "Virtual Hugs", added the stickers, "COVID 19", "Quarantine" and "take a hike".

Embellishments: Wooden heart, Silver Glitter GEMS colored with the Orange TriBlend marker. If I could have found them, I would have used the "In This Together Dots"! Matching colors in 3 sizes. LOL!!

In This Together Dots

Open the card and the magic happens: the center opens like a shutter to reveal the mask sticker and statement, "I AM SMILING". This card looks complicated, though really is quite easy to put together.

BASE: Nectarine CS cut at 5 1/2 by 8 1/2 & scored at 2 1/8 on one of the short sides, fold to the center to create the gate-fold. The opposite side isn't scored, just fold it to the center so it will meet at the middle of the card.

The center of the card has three parts.

1. The middle panel with a circle cut with the 2 1/2 inch circle die cut. A 2 x 2 scrap under the circle for the sentiment,  between the sentiment and the circle

2. Two V cut shutter mechanism:

cut at 4 x 3 - scored on the short side at 1/2 and the opposite side cut the V from the corners to the middle point of the 4 X 3 paper. overlap the two V cut rectangles so that the scored portion is lined up within the gate folds, apply adhesive to only the 1/2 inch portion, fold down the "gates" onto the glue, hold firmly, when adhered, lift the gates and the "shutter" will open.
