The Everything ABC Blog-Hop Letter Y

Welcome to the Everything ABC's Blog Hop!

For this hop we will be featuring the letter "Y" This may be the name
of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment. Whatever the crafter
has chosen as their "Y" element will be featured in their post.
If you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning
If you came from  Lauren Moore - CTMH Craftings then you're on the right track!"

For my "Y"  I immediately knew it would be Yuletide Carol.  CTMH has a great "Yuletide Carol" paper pack that has papers that are useful for any season, especially the BULK papers available to CTMH consultants.  I found it creates an elegant look for the origami wreath.  I got the instruction from Julie Reynolds which she has posted on Facebook,
"Julie's Legacy Makers", posted September 28.
I'm not sure how to link a document and it's really too large to include in this post.
Maybe it's time for me to try creating a video tutorial!

The wreath is created with 12 - 6" X 6"  squares.  I love our double sided paper providing  two complimentary designs that works perfectly to create this wreath.  I used the BULK papers from Yuletide Carols and embellished the wreath with holly leaves, a poinsettia flower, and ribbon.

Olive Cardstock was used for the holly leaves and cut with the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge (pg.46).  The leaves were dry embossed for the veins and then formed into leaves just bending them with my fingers and inking the edges with olive ink.

The flower was cut with the same cartridge (pg 39), spritzed with water, crumpled and folded with my fingers, and layered (two sizes).  For the flower I used ruby red cardstock and inked the edges with ruby red ink. I also added a pearl (retired).
The ribbon isn't CTMH.

The actual measure of the finished wreath is  6.5" X 6.5"  Almost any size square can be used, though it gets harder to fold as the size gets smaller.  This is an easy size to start with and  uses only three sheets of paper.  Next, I'm going to try a 4" by 4" square which I think will look great as a topper on a Christmas package.

Your next stop on our Everything ABC'S blog Hop is " Elise Sosa- A Splash of Color ".  In case you get lost along the way  Linda's blog has a complete list of participants!

Hope you enjoyed all the "Y" inspired fabulous art.
Plan to join us in two weeks for letter "Z".

  1. Thanks, Lauren, It's really a quick project - start to finish, less than an hour including the cutting and creating the embellishments.

Julie's Legacy Makers posted Sept. 28 url for her page is https://www.facebook.com/groups/450870421670877/ but it doesn't change as I scroll down. Hope this helps.
