Whimsy ~ Card Display Board September 2016

Coffee Cup - Gift Card Holder ~ Whimsy Fundamentals
She has an SVG file I wasn’t able to use so I questimated and simply glued the edges and bottom of 2 layers of patterned paper with the "lids" cut off and the gift card insert is the white daisy coffee cup cut short so it would fit..

Card Front                                              Gift card holder insert

White Daisy CS cut with the Artistry Circut Cartridge (pg. 5) @ 5 ½ inches – and cutting off 1/2” from the bottom so it would fit   Add an “envelope” to hold the gift card: cut patterned paper 3 ¼ X 3 ¾. Use a 1” circle punch to create the dip to be able to pull out the card.  Fold under ½ inch on the bottom and sides, miter the corners and glue the folded tabs to the middle of the cup. I trimmed ~ ½ “ from the bottom so it would insert completely.  Draw a line to show the edges of the lid – Marvy - LePen (Z1979) The White Daisy cup card holder is inserted into a “Cup” created from two cuts of Whimsy patterned paper – one that is 1/8” wider and another that is ½ “ wider.  The lid portion of the colored cups are cut off, each side of the widest paper is folded back ¼ “ to create tabs that are glued onto the sides of the other patterned paper, and the bottom is also glued leaving the top open to insert the “White Daisy Cup” holding the Gift Card.

The coffee cup sleeve is cut from Kraft CS (Z1375) cut slightly wider so that I could create a realistic look byusing the lined embossing folder.  A “crimper” would also work. Before crimping/embossing, stamp with “Thanks So Much” from “All the Thanks” (B1536)  Put it all together. Pull up the lid and out comes the gift card.

3 x 3 card ~ Whimsy Fundamentals

White daisy base cut at 6”X3” and folded in half. First layer, Smoothie CS cut at 2 7/8” and inked around the edges with Smoothie ink.  Second layer, Whimsy diagonal pink cut at 2 3/4”, distress the edges, and using the “Way to Go” (D1700) stamp, add the hearts, wavy stamp, stamp inside the wavy lines and stamp the solid circles using Smoothie. The white and gold ribbon (Z3189) is died with diluted Smoothie ink – just squeeze the lid with the ink pad closed and ink adheres to the inside of the lid, open, add a little water to the ink on the lid and you have “water colors”.  The sentiment -“This card is a paper hug” from “True Love” (D1711) is stamped on a white CS chevron cut tab, inked around the edges and popped up with foam tape The shimmer brush was used on the hearts, and the wavy lines, and the row of round shapes was embossed with clear embossing powder.

 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card ~ Whimsy Fundamentals

Blue Love paper strip with one row of LOVE (length cut at 5”) inked around the edge with Crystal blue, glued to a 3 ¾” X 5” white daisy CS, also inked around the edges. The banner base was cut from the Whimsy blue striped paper using the new Cricut Cartridge, Flower Market, pg.14. The top layer is cut from Sea Glass glitter paper. The friends banner is adhered to the card over ½” strips of Whimsy patterned paper and ribbon with a knotted strip of the blue love ribbon covering the middle strip.  The strip above the bottom Love strip was created using a background stamp from the Flower Market Cricut Collection.

Holiday Expressions celebrates the Holidays for the next four months; Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years.  This is a busy time of the year and to have coordinated stamps, papers, embellishments, the new Cricut "City Sidewalks" Digital Collection and the CTMH Cricut Cartridge Flower Market, life is flowing the in the fast lane: quick and easy cards and layouts at our fingertips.  The choices of paper packs are fun, fabulous and  flexible - think outside the box.
We have a choice of 4 paper collections that will be showcased each month: Jeeper Creepers - September, Swan Lake - October City Sidewalks - November,  Oh Deer - December!  However, for this blog hop, you will see all four paper collections displayed..  I really cannot decide which paper is a favorite, however, I must say I'm partial to the browns, fern, juniper, sea glass combination of the "Oh Deer!" collection.  I also love the speed of using the new Cricut City Sidewalks Digital Collection designed to compliment City Sidewalks for quick and easy Christmas projects.
So many choices!

This card shows the many designs of Oh Deer!
The stars are from the "Oh Deer" Compliments!

I'm sending this to my brother who is having some medical problems.
He loves the outdoors; their home is in a woods where there are deer visiting on a regular basis.

Everything ABC's Blog Hop - Letter S

Welcome to the Everything ABC's Blog Hop!
For this hop we will be featuring the letter "S".
This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment.
Whatever the crafter has chosen as their "element"
will be featured in their post.
then you're on the right track! The blog is a complete circle, if you started here you can work your way around.  If you get lost along the way, you can find a complete list of participants at the bottom of Catherine's blog.
I cannot wait to see all the "S" inspired expressions of creativity. My "S" is for the September Stamp of the Month. One of my all time favorites!  Every month Close to My Heart promotes a special D size stamp set that you can get for $5 when you order $50 in Close To My Heart products.  The SOTM for September is "Blessed Beyond Measure" a set of 19 stamps. I feel so very blessed and grateful for God's love and grace - He is forever faithful.

I Used Desert Sand to random stamp "Blessed" in 3 generations.  The leaves are cut with the Artbooking CTMH cartridge Pg. 72 at 2" and 1 1/2", watercolored, stamped, crumpled and covered with Shimmer using our new Shimmer Brush.  I also used our new poppy colored ribbon from the Whimsy Ribbon Pack and the jute ribbon from Rustic Home Ribbon Pack.  The bow was created by pulling apart the jute ribbon.  I love this card and hope it will soon be a blessing to a friend.  I enjoy making cards, though slow to send them, so I'm now acknowledging my hording tendencies and publicly committing to sending a card or two each week.

I also used this stamp set in two other blog hops.
For the CTMH Stamp of the Month Blog hop, I created this card.
For the CTMH Technique Blog Hop, I created a small one page mini album with pockets, I've since added a couple small flip flaps creating even more room for additional comments/photos.

Cover
(Paper from the retired Florence Paper Pack)
Gold Ribbon from our new Uptown Ribbon Pack

Your next stop on our Everything ABC's blog hop is Lauren Moore of CTMH Craftings.  I hope you've enjoyed the inspiring creations along the way.  I really do read the comments, so would love to get some feedback and encouragement .
Maybe for letter "T" you would like to join us?  If you are interested in checking out the monthly SOTM you can find them each month on my CTMH website HERE.

I decided to use the card kit to make a gift card holder - "card within a card".  The card base is Kraft paper, 5 1/2 X 4 1/4.  The 3X3 card envelope from the kit was decorated and used to hold the gift card and glued inside the card.  For the front of the card, I had fun cutting apart the premade 3X3 cards creating a geometric design.   The scalloped edge was created using a corner rounder,  and the scalloped circle and oval were cut using the retired Art Philosophy cricut cart.   The green ribbon is from the whimsy ribbon pack. The scalloped green circle and oval were cut from the new willow green paper found in the Adventure fundamental collection.

The "Have a Happy Day" and oval stamp are from the "True Love" stamp set. $7 from the sale of this stamp is donated to Operation Smile providing surgeries to repair cleft lips and palates in children.

I like Poppy, so inked the Whimsy Sorbet patterned paper with Poppy ink.  The paper used for the smaller leaf and the 5 smaller leaves is from the Saffron paper from the Enchantment Fundamentals.. The leaves were "Cricut cut" using Artbooking according to the instructions found on the Blessed Beyond Measure carrier sheet instructions.  I added gold sequins with clear sparkles, a strip of gold shimmer trim, Rustic Home jute ribbon, and a strip of the Whimsey Sorbet paper with more Poppy ink and stamped with a pattern from the Flower Market Stamp background stamp set (chocolate). The 5 smaller leaves also have a texture stamped in chocolate.  The "paint strokes" are Stamped in Poppy - 3 generations using the Brushstrokes (C1608) stamp set.
